Plant Based Lotion Bar Formula
This unique formula was created by our team in an effort to mimic a Beeswax bar feel while still keeping animal products out of the formula. We love our standard vegan blend but realize there are others who want something a little different. We started with a similar base of oils that absorb well into the skin with our Organic Sunflower and Organic Shea Butter. Then we created a unique blend of waxes that go onto the skin in an easy glide but still give lasting protection. Candelilla Wax is a plant based wax that is most similar to Beeswax in melt point. However, it is a little harder. We looked around for something that would help give the bar a better glide and smoothness to the bar and decided on Myrica Wax. This wax is unique not only for its natural sweet scent but also for its very low melt point. This allows it to melt easier into the skin and give a great glide. For the waxes, we finished with a touch of Sunflower Wax as it is known to assist in gelling and keeping a higher melt point on the product itself. The addition of Vitamin E and Sunflower Lecithin adds their unique properties to boost the way the lotion bar interacts with the skin. It was a hard task to create the unique sweet honey-like notes, smooth glide, and amazing skin-protecting effects of Beeswax but we really feel like this bar does an amazing job at capturing all these aspects.
Directions:
Our lotion bars are created to impart the skin-softening effect that traditional liquid lotion has on the skin at a fraction of the cost. Liquid lotion is a combination of water, oils, and waxes/emulsifiers. The oils and the waxes work to create a barrier on the skin that moisturizes the skin and protects it. Our lotion bars have removed the water part to this equation. The result is a product that glides on and gives the effects of lotion without the cost of the water and extra weight of shipping. It also skips the need for preservatives since it is an anhydrous product allowing you to only keep the ingredients you need. We find that our lotion bars can give a much longer-lasting protection with very few drawbacks.
